I love these patterns by Sayjai Thawornsupacharoen from K&J Dolls, they are big huggy amigurumis, great for big kids that want the amigurumis for play and no for display ;) You can visit her blog and take a look to her awesome job.
I also love the fact that you can find the patterns in different formats, included ebook perfect for my kindle, because I never print the patterns I always use my kindle for that.
I bought four of her patterns: Cat, Bear, Bunny and Monkey. Theses patterns are very well written, they are very easy to follow, have detailed instructions and photos.
She recommend to use Super chunky yarn but I use Stylecraft Chunky with a 4.5mm crochet hook and they have a very good size 14" / 36cm.
So far I've made:
The Cat: well a turn it into a Cheetah, because that is what my son wanted. For that I added some spots, and the lines in his face. I made some changes in the pattern, I added a tail that is not included (I don't know why) and muzzle. The pattern ask to sew the legs and arms with buttons, but I don't like that way so I sewed them the regular way.
I used Stylecraft Chunky in Gold for the body and some blue and black yarn that I have in my stash. I used 12mm orange cat safety eyes and 25mm triangle safety nose.
The Bear: for my eldest son. I use Stylecraft Chunky in dark brown and some red and grey. I use 14mm amber safety eyes and 25mm triangle safety nose.
For the colour change of his jumper I use the method "Jogless Stripes" from Crochet Ever After you can watch the video HERE. You can see the difference between the two jumpers
The Bunny: I made this bunny as a custom order, the boy wanted a blue bunny. I change the way to make the ears because I rather the long ears and I added a tail. I used Stylecraft Chunky in Aster and 9mm safety eyes.
Right now I'm make a lilac bunny and I have the Monkey in queue.
